Debbie Markham, PhotographerAn involved & very active photographer, Debbie is a combination of adventurous, fun, professional & reflective. Even at an early age she was drawn to photography, inspired by her father’s photographs from slide film. Debbie grew up in Walnut Creek, CA & attended UCSB from 1988-92, majoring in Business/Economics while always taking art, acting or music classes. Following college she spent one year living in Newport Beach, working in marketing, before moving to Cambria. Her career in art for the past 14 years exposed her to remarkable artists, brilliant artwork & a passion for creating. Debbie has always moved through life with her cameras, documenting every phase & is now following her creative instinct into a career in photography.
Sometimes she finds the unusual in usual, sometimes deep meaning in the layers of a large full grown rose, & sometimes merely a beautiful, pure expression on a child's face. She enjoys photography for its ability to document life and slow her down to inspect & ponder what she's captured. "It enables me to reflect & I hope it will remind you to do the same. One of my favorite quotes is 'Look deep into nature & you will understand everything' by John Muir. That quote replayed in my mind as I gazed into the many layers of a beautifully aged rose whose family of new buds surrounded it; the cycle of our lives & our extended families are infinite & i realized how interconnected we all are."
A Cambria resident since 1993 Debbie is a proud mom of two. For the past 14 years she has been an owner of one of the most comprehensive art galleries in the nation. Besides her passion for all forms of art, she is an avid motorcycle rider, swimmer, biker, cross-country runner, paraglider pilot and traveler. Her outdoor activities lead her to some of the most beautiful areas of our world. She photographs the natural landscapes, animals, buildings & faces of her excursions, as well as familes & friends, & is entering the realm of commercial photography.
Debbie shoots with a Canon 5D, 12 megapixel digital camera, with a 24-105 Image Stabilizing sens or a 70 - 300 IS lens & sometimes her Canon Rebel XTi 10 mega pixel digital camera.
